Aki Achillea

Senior Partner

Aki qualified as a Solicitor in 1985 and after 38 years is vastly experienced in several areas of law having trained in a general practice in East London before setting up on his own account in 1988 and thereafter merging with a North London firm in 1992.

Aki was formerly a full equity partner in the general practice of YVA solicitors in Holloway (now Finchley) and then set up his own firm again in Station Road Chingford in 1999.

Aki has for many years been a Criminal defence advocate appearing not only in the Magistrates Courts but having also acquired Higher rights status conducted a number of serious Crown Court trials.

The firm had developed through its reputation a niche practice dealing with top end Crime of the most serious type including murders, serious violence, drugs, white collar serious frauds as well as developing an expertise at the lower criminal end in relation to all motoring offences and related matters.

Aki has additionally over the years developed a following and an aptitude for non-contentious litigation.

He has demonstrated his versatility over several years and the scope of his expertise now extends beyond Criminal Law to additionally all manner of both standard and complex property issues including the sale and purchase of both freehold and leasehold properties, the individual and collective enfranchisement of leasehold interests and extensions, remortgages and the acquisition of development properties acting for both developers and individual purchasers.

Additionally, his expertise extends to commercial properties be they freehold or leasehold including shops and offices and warehouses and his clients include not only the general public but also specialist landlords, developers and Companies.

Born in London of Greek Cypriot parentage and married to Anne for 33 years with 3 children Aki is keenly involved in non-league football and his beloved Haringey Borough FC as well as having a love for playing and watching cricket in the summer months.

Beverley Hamblin

Partner

Beverley has been a qualified Solicitor for 34 years having spent a number of years employed in the Court Service and thereafter Beverley joined Kenneth Elliott and Rowe, a legal firm in Romford Essex where she became a Partner before joining Aki at Achillea and Co in 2001.

Beverley has amassed a wealth of experience in contentious and non- contentious matters, including considerable advocacy experience gained in the Magistrates Courts and the preparation of serious Criminal cases for trial in the Crown Court.

Additionally Beverley has developed a significant working knowledge and understanding of all aspects of residential Conveyancing including the sale and purchase of both freehold and leasehold residential properties including leasehold extensions, transfers of equity, right to buy purchase and sales in addition to shared ownership purchases and sales.

Beverley is adept at providing a professional, efficient and personal service to all of her clients.

Away from the office Beverley lives with her partner and children. Beverley is a cricket enthusiast and a dedicated supporter of both her partner and son who play regularly. Beverley likes to socialise with friends and enjoys attending the theatre, particularly the ballet, with her daughter.

Carley Edwards

Legal Secretary

Carley has been an ever present member of staff since the re-forming of Achillea & Co in 1999.

A hardworking conscientious secretary whose value is certainly not underestimated by the firm and for whom no task is too much trouble.

A wonderful character that gets on well with all of the firm’s clients and her professionalism is evident in all aspects of her work.

Experienced in both Crime and Conveyancing Carley has demonstrated an aptitude for the administrative tasks associated with such work.

Carley’s IT skills have been of valuable assistance in guiding the fee earners and ancillary staff through the introduction of the new case management system.

In her spare time Carley is particularly partial to some retail therapy, attending the theatre and is a keep fit fanatic.
